Notebook Entry ...Flowers

So I said I might take the OM-5 II out on its first outing to do steam trains but in the end I decided instead to do flowers. A bit of tele-zoom close-up work using my 40-150mm f4 Pro. Thought it would be a good test of the camera lens combo and so it proved.

Well, the first thought is this combination of the camera and lens does not disappoint for this sort of photography. Wandering around the gardens, camera in hand, standing well back at the adge of large planted borders the lens gives you the reach and magnification to make great close-ups. The camera provides great sharpness and resolution due to its built in IBIS and excellent imaging pipeline.

The second thought is that the outfit is light enough and mobile enough to be carted around for an extended session without being burdensome nor becoming tiresome at all. It is a pleasure to carry on a walkabout like this.

The third thought is that is very easy and intuitive to use camera. Things are where the should be, the menus are great and the computational functions are dead easy to get to from the CP button, this latter being a simple but brilliant ergonomic innovation.

The fourth thought is that the M.Zuiko 40-150mm f4 Pro (80-300mm crop factor equivalent) is a very high quality lens whose constant aperture is brilliant to work with. Its compact form means it handles well on the OM-5 II.

In conclusion the OM5 II is, on first inspection, a beautiful little walkabout camera for me to take out on my mini-adventures. It is compact, powerful, highly portable, easy to use and produces high quality images.
